Care of teeth

In addition to his chewing function and its importance to have a proper diction and a good image, the primary teeth or milk reserve space for permanent teeth.

If a child has lost a tooth too early, for tooth decay, an accident or a coup, and there is enough room for a new tooth, it is advisable to use a space maintainer. This is a metal or plastic device that keeps the space open until the permanent tooth eruption may be in his position and place.

To prevent difficulties
If primary teeth are lost early triggered several problems:

• The teeth are located on each side of the tooth lost tend to run into an empty space. When the ongoing eruption should not find enough space and did it out of its own location. Generally, it is often the cause of a "malocclusion" or "crooked teeth".

• When the teeth are and they turn away, it is difficult to clean all surfaces (internal, external, chewing, interdentaria), which can cause tooth decay or periodontal disease.

• The tooth loss affects speech and the appearance of the child. The presence of the teeth are needed to adequately deliver many letters of the alphabet, as well as helping to shape the face.

• In the first six months following the loss of a tooth extraction or temporary, is the maximum movements of the surrounding teeth into the empty space.

With the placement of a maintainer, a simple and inexpensive, can be prevented the problems mentioned above.
