Good, a while ago (not so much) surfer a little for the web I met with this article that I found very interesting to share with all you...
China is suffering two of the consequences of its politics of the unique son. What was considered as a solution to avoid a big problem, brought others of same or bigger magnitude.
China was always characterized to be a replete country of inhabitants. The world population's room lives there. Worried by the overpopulation, he/she took as measure to brake the indexes of natality. In 1979 he/she put into practice the unique Son's politics. Just as the name it indicates it, a son was only allowed by person. Many times it is difficult to measure the short term consequences. With a son for family the population, in a principle, it would be controlled...
But... what does it happen now?
The populational pyramid is investing. Every time there is more aged population and, for the 2050, it is expected that a third of the Chinese is retired. Phenomenon that doesn't only happen in that country. In many places of Europe the same thing happens and they try to adopt measures of the most varied to revert the situation.
And in China... will one be able to revert the situation?
This is a very complicated topic. China didn't only attend the phenomenon of its population's aging. Besides that, it happens that the masculine sex overcomes thoroughly to the feminine one. When only choosing to a son, many families have opted to only have a male. These, in the rural areas, are “more valuable” that the women, are “economically more useful in the rural areas.”
As consequence of this demographic imbalance, it is predicted that 20 million men won't have woman in China. At the moment, for each 119 born children, 100 girls are born, great difference if it is considered that population's size (1.300 millions).
How measures have intended?
1) to prohibit the baby's ecografy
2) to allow a son in the cities and two in the rural areas, if the first baby is a girl.
3) to prohibit the illegal abortions.
4) to look for women in the border countries.
It is necessary to think if these four “you solve” they are not more than measures of the situation unable to remedy a problem that is structural for a lot of time. What will it pass with China in a couple of years? Perhaps we don't care so much because it is another country... a country that today conforms the population's room...
