
While men received an average salary of 17,964 euros per year, of whom stayed in 12,464 euros, 5,500 euros less. One of the causes of this inequality is the recent incorporation of women into the labor market, which means less seniority in enterprises and more precarious jobs.
Spain is the EU country where part-time employment is predominantly female. On the other hand, currently in Europe and the U.S. more than 50% of women have a salaried job, compared with 30% of only 20 years ago. That's because the pace of growth in female labor force between 1980 and 2000 was double that
of the male.
Moreover, in developed countries women work at least two hours more per week than men.
