Nuclear Waste to the cemetery

According to Eurobarometer, 55% of Europeans are against nuclear energy. compared with 37 in favour% and 8% had no clear opinion.

If it raises the same question assuming it is resolved satisfactorily waste treatment, 58% would be in favour compared with 31% against and 11% which is not pronounced.

To Schenkel, there are good systems to treat waste from low and medium-radioctividad and cites the proper functioning of the cemetery at El Cabril waste, in Cordoba; however, states that still can "refined" solutions to waste highly assets, which are often actinides and fission products.

Today they will reprocess and vitrified, but for the future, is being investigated-for example in Finland and Sweden-who once vitrified, are stored in geological burial deep underground.

Another solution, still less advanced, is the partitioning and transmutation of long-lived waste actin.
