Angel without wings

Not always the angels have wings. In the Bible there is no explanation to be taken. The word means messenger Angel, traveler, accompanying the people
Hebrew along their quest for the promised land.
In fact, in the Middle Ages were represented as young angels without wings.

This custom has ido emerging and changing over time. In the V century, the winged beings are numerous manuscripts that are in the iconographic tradition. At the beginning of the Middle Ages were beginning to consolidate the idea that the wings confer divine nature. The artists were placed or not depending on the composition done. Of course, are white as a symbol of the purity of heaven.

It is from the thirteenth century Gothic painting when most prestigious artists begin to generalize the use of wings. But what about Satan? It is certainly the fallen angel, and by extension, should bear wings, but will no longer be white.
