Exercise for diabetics

Doctors often advise men suffering from diabetes type I and type II omit the exercise when your blood sugar levels are high. However, new studies suggest that men with diabetes may be exercised even in the days on which their levels of blood sugar are high.

"A most important factor is the amount of insulin present in your body to control blood sugar," says Dr. Robert Hanisch, a researcher on diabetes and the exercise physiologist. A study by the Center for the Treatment of Diabetes Hospital of Columbia, Hanisch discovered that measuring a urine sample to locate ketones (secondary products of metabolism liver), is a much more appropriate to check the possibility to exercise that measure only sugar from the blood.

"More ketones means less insulin to control blood sugar. If you do not have ketones and your blood sugar level is high, our studies show that exercise can do without problems." Strips to measure ketones can be purchased at many pharmacies.
