Artificial heart: Good performance

Research conducted with the CardioWest artificial heart has fully demonstrated that both orthotopic replaced the original cardiac ventricles and all cardiac valves. Is eliminating the problems often seen by professionals in the bridge to transplantation periods with left ventricular assist devices and biventriculares.

Among these include the right heart failure, the ventricular thrombus, intraventricular communications, and low blood flows. A new U.S. experience indicates that the introduction of completely artificial heart improved the rate of survival to cardiac transplantation and survival after transplantation.

"This device prevents death in critically ill patients who have irreversible biventricular failure and are candidates for cardiac transplantation, has shown the study director of the Sarver Heart Center. To obtain the study data were not randomized, prospective five sites, using historical controls.
