The causes of osteoarthritis

The causes can be manifold:
- Aging.
- Inheritance.
- Obesity.
- Overload disorders.
- Local lesions: fractures, injuries, sprains, inflammations.
- Excessive use: professional work.

Local symptoms include pain, stiffness, limited mobility and loss of function. The pain is usually the first manifestation. It gets worse when we move or do some activity and improves with rest. Is morning stiffness lasts half an hour, and gave to walking, to reappear after a period of inactivity.

Subsequently becomes more severe arthritis and pain is more continuous. Appears atrophy and muscle spasm. The alteration of the muscles causes more pain, altered joint mobility.

As late complications may occur deformities in flexion contracture and instability of the joint.
