Growth cycle and hair loss

The normal cycle of hair growth varies from 2 to 6 years. Each hair grows approximately 1 centimeter per month during this phase. About 90% of scalp hairs are in growth phase (anagen). Approximately 10% of scalp hair, at some point, are in a resting phase (catagen). After 2 to 3 months, the hair falling at rest (telogen) is again replaced by new growth.

It is normal to lose some hair (less than 60 hair) every day as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience excessive hair loss (more than usual, can affect men, women and children).
