Benefits for cornea dream

The hypnagogic-sudden and involuntary movement of eyes closed during sleep-is beneficial because it is the only way in which the cornea to be ventilated during sleep.

By having their eyes open, the cornea-layer and transparent tissue in front of the eye area, receives an adequate supply of oxygen. The air also cools a thin layer covering the aqueous humor fluid found in a chamber behind the cornea. By cooling the layer, producing an agitation and the movement carries oxygen from the iris, with a constant supply of blood to the cornea.

But when our eyes are closed-eye and the area still, "the story is different. The oxygen is slowly coming to the cornea by diffusion from the iris or conjunctiva, the membrane that lines the inside of the eyelids. The oxygen is insufficient. But the dream saves everything, because at the time hypnagogic, sudden eye movement during sleep, oxygen and ventilation to reach desired levels.
