The Boy with Little Appetite

When we face a boy with little appetite, it is very advisable to know how to put on in a completely objective plan and to consider if he/she really eats little quantity, or if he/she eats less than what we think that he/she should eat. Most of the children spends in their first years for a phase of inappetence; but also, in most of the cases, ésto is not more than a family (mainly of the general ledgers in the family) extreme concern. The petty ones, naturally eat, but less than the adults and the same as the general ledgers, not all need same quantity of energy to be developed in a normal way.

The best thing is to be guided by the weight, a boy that gains weight according to the normal figures for his age, can never be considered as lacking appetite or, at least, it should not be thought that he feeds scarcely, although they are necessary certain "tricks" to achieve that he eats.

If the weight is parked during some weeks, in the infants or during months in children bigger accompanied by a patent appetite ullage, is to be in charge of of the topic and to consult to the pediatrician.

In general terms, one can say that the inappetence is due to two lawsuits: or the boy suffers an illness (whose more common symptoms are the fever, the anginas, the otitis, urinary, pulmonary infection among other); or that an emotional or psychological factor that determines it exists. In the event of infectious illness or of another nature, he/she will be the physician the suitable one to act. Now then, if it is about the psychological factor, it will be the family and mainly the mother or the more direct person responsible for the boy's power supply who he/she can help to solve this problem.

Among the emotional factors that can be lawsuit of the dysfunction, they are the jealousies toward another brother, mainly if this is newly born; the excessive interest for the games; the fear many caused times for the abuse of the TV; the fear to be punished; among other. All ésto can influence flagrantly in the boy's appetite. The sobreprotection, the whim, the limitless concern because the baby feeds to set time or with arrangement to too severe standards, they are likewise lawsuits of great importance in the presentation of the inappetence. The mothers, before the first non appetite symptoms, worry even more, they raise the sobreprotección and the concern; and with it it is only possible to raise the problem, because the boy captures this "strange" environment and he realizes that it is being the center of family carefulness, and that therewith it gets things that in another way very difficultly will procure; for example, it is able to center his carefulness again, when the parents were busier with "the new baby", etc. If he/she is given this easiness then of procuring the whims that he/she has because their parents are too generous before their requirements, the moment to take its food can constitute a quotidian "orgy", because in that moment, every day, he/she makes what wants. This way he/she is formed a true chicken-and-egg situation that it is necessary to know how to cut for the most convenient point, before it is almost impossible to make it.
