
In 1789 the commander Joseph Csekonics founded the stud of Bábolna with a cross between the pure blood of Arabs and mares race transilvánica selected for the dressage which had highlighted by their resilience, tenacity and courage.
Its aim was to achieve a cavalry resistant, fast and courageous for the Imperial Army.
A stallion named Bedouin Shagya, imported from Syria in 1836, was outlined as better suited for that purpose.
The shagya is ideal in many different disciplines horserace: full jump, thirteen, raid, hooks and dressage. It also has an excellent character, a lot of openness and respect for the man.
The stud of Bábolna can be visited, and his magnificent copies shagya joins a museum where they collected the names of the parents most illustrious of this race.
