Breathing word of mouth saves lives

Saving lives. The word of mouth respiration is not the only way to revive a drowning. The Heimlich maneuver is the best way to dislodge water from the lungs and resume breathing. Salvavidas in the largest water parks have saved 33 lives with this technique in the past year.

"The same maneuver that everyone knows (press inward and upward diaphragm with a fist closed) can save about 500 drowning victims a year," says Dr. Henry Heimlich, inventor of the technique. This can be applied easily in shallow waters, especially when it comes to children. Adults must be brought to shore for the resuscitation exercise effectively.
