Treatment for babies with insomnia

The sleep disorders are a common problem in childhood. And it should consider each case individually.

• Some episodes of insomnia are sporadic and likely to change with proper sleep habits.

• If the problem persists, the baby has symptoms of not sleeping enough or shown other symptoms (of conduct, food ...), it is essential to consult with a professional.

• The restless sleep can be caused by a disease. Dr. Paulino Castells, child psychiatrist, recommends "take the child to the pediatrician in situations of insomnia repeated, to rule out physical causes that might be altering his dream."

• After examining the baby, "if the doctor does not find grounds for insomnia, the doctor continues, will lead the little patient to a psychiatrist (or psychologist) child."
