Certain foods are known to stimulate sexual appetite. The idea that food has aphrodisiac qualities comes from two sources: a) rarity or novelty of a food, such as the potato was first brought to Europe, or when imported ginseng, and b) the "theory of marks "which assumes that sex can be recovered (or get) to eat foods with characteristics similar to the external sexual organs, such as bananas and oysters.
Some scholars argue in addition that oysters contain zinc, an essential element in the production of testosterone, sex hormone-both men and women.
