One called docetaxel chemotherapy has prolonged the lives of patients in whom prostate cancer had spread to other parts of the body, according to papers published recently in The New England Journal of Medicine.
While other drugs used in men with prostate cancer that has already metastases to bone and other body tissues only able to mitigate the symptoms of the disease, this drug has been able to increase survival in months of patients. Prostate cancer can be circumscribed to the gland or to cause new outbreaks carcinogens.
In the first case, a surgery and / or radiotherapy is usually able to control the disease. But in the second case, the treatment becomes much more difficult and the prognosis worsens. New experiences using docetaxel, a chemotherapy agent that promotes the death of cancer cells by a mechanism called apoptosis.
