What is diabetes?
Diabetes is a chronic state of hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), which occurs as a result of genetic and environmental factors-abuse of drugs and not wearing a proper diet, among others.
But mainly to a lack of insulin (a hormone produced in the pancreas whose function is to regulate the use of energy in our body), through the introduction of carbohydrates, fats and amino acids in the cells, enabling them to synthesize protein and essential substances, ensuring the proper functioning of our metabolism.
When this hormone is absent, sugar and other nutritional components remain outside the cells, and therefore in the bloodstream, causing a rise in abnormal blood sugar.
Diabetes is not a benign disease and currently there is still no cure for it, but can be controlled at hundred percent, which is critical, because when it is not controlled so because, presents acute complications resulting levels blood sugar so high that there is a "shock hiperglucémico", which can degenerate into a coma and even death.
Among the chronic complications of diabetes, can submit a gradual loss of sight, diseases associated with kidney and nervous system and a high tendency to suffer arteroesclerosis and heart disease.
