What are the martial arts?

In japan are called martial arts techniques to attack and defense based their development on the principles of the doctrine, a branch of Zen Buddhism that encourages various processes of meditation or contemplation, in order to attain higher states of consciousness.

While Zen was brought to China by Indian Bodhidharma, the martial arts are considered to be Japanese.
The principles of Zen were exploited by samurai to achieve a more effective during combat.

The most famous Japanese martial arts are the art of kendo, or fencing or kyudo and the art of archery. Of them have led many disciplines, practiced today in both East and West, such as judo, aikido and karate.
