
The University of Leicester in England, has conducted the first global map of "happiness", which the Danes and Swiss are the happiest while those Burundians and Zimbabwe the least. The map was assembled by an expert in social psychology Adrian White, who based his analysis on life expectancy, economic welfare and access to education. The specialist used data published by UNESCO and the World Health Organization (WHO), to illustrate international differences on level of happiness.
The map includes 177 countries and is based on responses on the subject of some 80,000 people.
After Switzerland and Denmark, the happiest people are citizens of Austria, Iceland, Bahamas, Finland and Sweden, whereas among the top 20 are also Costa Rica (13), Netherlands (15), Malaysia (17) and Norway (19 ), while the United Kingdom remains at the forty-first and twenty-third in the U.S..
Among Latin American countries, Argentina are on the list (56), Bolivia (117), Brazil (81), Chile (71), Colombia (34), Cuba (83), Dominican Republic (42), Ecuador (111 ) El Salvador (61), Guatemala (43), Honduras (37), Mexico (51), Nicaragua (85), Panama (39), Paraguay (75), Peru (115), Uruguay (87), Venezuela ( 25).
