The Origin of the Gnomes

The gnomes appear for the first time, in the Half Age, XIV and XV centuries, among the Jewish cabalists who affirmed that these fantastic petty characters, lived under the earth, the same as the midgets.

Although they already existed in the oral tradition of Celtic, Viking and German, Talmud (sacred book of the Jews), allocates them the task of guarding hidden treasures.

In this book it is counted, among other things that a gnome with worm form lent services to the king Salomón, extracting rocks of the quarries for the construction of the Temple of Jerusalem.

It is defined to the gnomes like intermediate beings between the man and the spirits; they have an intermediate" "earth as residence place; with trees, plants and rocks. These petty beings assume the features of the locus in quo they live. All save features in common: they are old of petty, grotesque and thin body; and their mandible is prominent.

The Trefoil of 4 Sheets

Who sees a woman revolving the grass, he/she will know that he/she is a spinster that is searching a trefoil of four sheets. Why? It counts the legend that the women that have been single, commonly called spinsters, should find a trefoil of four sheets so that his blue prince that takes it to the altar appears. Or to the the best thing not the blue prince, but yes who takes them to the altar. When finding it, the woman has go to put it in a vase with water, taking care that her four sheets are perfectly oriented toward the four cardinal points. He/she will know this way from where their future husband will arrive. They say the evil tongues that many the women that crawled in search of that good luck, were and that few were the fortunate ones. It is that to find the famous trefoil of four sheets is as finding a needle in a barn.

As almost all the legends or superstitions, little it is known about their origin. From boys we hear say that to find a trefoil of four sheets is sign of good luck, but the reason, it is an entire mystery and reason of many joint ventures. For example, the Christian of the Half Age saw it like a representation of Christ's cross, and they said that a trefoil of four sheets was the only thing that Eva of the garden of Eden was taken. Others assure that each one of their sheets had a meaning, and that it represented the faith, the hope, the love and the luck.

In Ireland, to travel to another place of the world, for many centuries it is used mainly as protective element and he/she associates it to San Patricio, standard of that country. Also linked to the marriage, but not only to the spinsters, it is believed that this petty plant brings good luck to the girlfriend; for that reason during the XVII century he/she expanded the custom of disseminating trefoils of four sheets before the fiancés to protect them, because it frightened the bad spirits and the malicious charms, allowing that as much the boyfriends as the companies enjoy calm of that so special day.

With so good omens, they give desires of exitting to search one. But the great question is: what to make with the trefoil if somebody finds it? Some affirm that so that he/she gives good luck it is necessary to insert it in the shoe; others believe that it is better to insert it among the sheets of the Bible, or of the header book; it doesn't lack the naturist that believes that to assure good luck the plant it should be returned to earth, of where it exitted. And the theories and belief continue. A lot it is said of the trefoil. But if there is something certain in this whole myth it is that until today's day, the trefoil of four sheets brings luck to who you/they market it. Transformed into amulet, in hanging, I band, pin and until self-adhesive, this plant enjoys a great popularity and it is used everywhere of the world.

Ufos in the Half Age

Equally in the Half Age the ufos, and thank you proliferated mainly to those «newspapers» of the monasteries and to the own monks that passed great part of time looking at the sky, they are countless the testimonies. This way, the venerable San Gregorio of Tours assures in his «History Francorum» the following thing: «A very luminous globe on the territory of France flew, in the year 853.»
Also extracted of the «History Ecclesiastical gentis anglorum» a very interesting story of a happened fact exists the year 664: «One night, while some monks were praying in the annexed cemetery to the monastery of Barkong, beside the Támesis, a great light got off the cycle, it illuminated them and he/she went to the other side of the monastery, until he/she finally got lost in the depths of the space. The light was such that he/she would make seem pale the light of the noon sun.» The author of this report is anything less than the famous historian Benedictine father of the abbey of Wearmouth, well-known in the whole Church with the name of San Beda the Venerable one (672-735).
A certainly very curious fact relates it the secretary of Carlomagno Eginardo, in its daily book, where he/she says that riding a day of the year 810 Carlomagno toward Aquisgrán, a great globe was seen descend vertiginously of the sky and then to go suddenly toward occident, this sudden appearance, together with the enormous splendor that emitted, frightened the king but mainly to its horse that reared up and it demolished its horseman malhiriéndolo. In fact, before the death of Carlomagno (814) it landed like the bishop relates Agobardus, a «ship, wrapped in a cloud, with four people» before the city of Lyón. These visitors, arrived in a strange way, they were able to escape for not being attacked by the mad multitude.

And already in full Half Age they are abundant the anniversaries of stories; let us see some: Easter, 1344: In the Villa of Feldkirch, Austria, near the frontier with the Swiss colony, «a trunk wrapped in flames» he/she fell on the square of the market and, after resting a while there, he/she got up and, in their flight in the heights, it disappeared of people's view.
In fact, with Columbus the Modern Age begins, where they also continue accumulating numerous ufos rakes, and where in the middle of XVIII century us to meet with a direct narration on a man coming from another planet that descended of a flying ship. The fact registered in 1790 in the French town of Alencon. Several reports of the time pick up it. In summary, the text says the following thing: «An enormous globe wrapped in flames settled in the summit of a hill. A man dressed with a very tight attire left the same one and he got lost in the near forests.
When the peasants went to check the stranger phenomenon, the globe it exploded quietly before them, without leaving rake none.»
