
Any physical activity is good. According to the results of a study, people 70 and older who exercise have a lower risk of death than those who prefer to stay at home watching television. Much has been said about the benefits of physical activity, but most studies focus on young people and are less research evaluating its effect on the elderly.
The study looked at 302 men and women ranging in age from 70 to 82 years. We calculated the amount of calories burned each subject because of their physical activity level, by subtracting the commonly consumed due to metabolism of the body at rest after six years of follow up, the mortality rate was 12.1% for the group of most active subjects compared with 24.7% for the idler. "For every 287 kcal / day expended, there is a 30% lower risk of death," say the authors of the study.
