Brain planetarium

One of the more plausible explanations for the existence of extraterrestrial intervention on our planet is precisely the failure to find evidence or missing when they are within easy reach. Our super civilized visitors not want their exploration work is interrupted by advertising.

Is it a concrete plan to alter life on the planet or rather, as it seems, an investigation of our actions for an experiment whose purpose eludes us? Is there a universal blueprint, concerning an entire group of galaxies, where different lifestyles tested, desperately, methods of survival to enjoy a higher intelligence? It is a cruel assumption, but plausible.

Our visitors would control a series of laboratories in different planets suns, where species such as humans, is to grab difficult situations to build their lives.

The trick in the world more dangerous

It was the afternoon of March 23, 1918. The Wood Green Empire theatre in London was packed. The audience was delighted with the show that magical presence.

Halfway through the function are a step up. A pair of men armed with muskets came to scene. On the other side was the magician Chung Ling Soo holding a plate in front of his neck. The Musketeers shot and the magician fell to the ground, bleeding: "My God, have given me. Baja the curtain." The next day died the largest of the Chinese magicians.

Only that was not Chinese, his real name was William Ellsworth Robinson, and was born in New York. The crowning moment of his show was the impact of the bullet trapped: they fired several bullets, the Soo stopped and then fell on a plate.

The police investigation discovered the trick. His wife gave to examine the bullets to viewers, they mark to identify. Returning to the scene it changed by others and delivered secretly marked her husband. The muskets were unprepared for the bullets never leave the canyon.

We heard an explosion and saw a flash of light, Soo took advantage of that moment to drop the bullets in the dish. But that fateful night ended corrosion continued to damage the mechanism that prevented the exit of the bullet and William Robinson, the great Chung Ling Soo, died for his art.

Investigating whales

Being first among whales is a memorable experience. And even more when it comes to the Franco-southern right whale, the most weak among all large cetaceans.

In Atlanta there are about 350 individuals North and South in Atlanta, about 12,000, of whom one third live on the Peninsula Vaidés, Argentina.
Its quiet coves are the ideal places to see dozens of mothers with their offspring approaching boat tourists, and remain there without moving.
"The population here is growing at 7% per annum," said Mariano Sironi, biologist from the Institute of Conservation of Whales (ICB), while a large tail hit the water several times a few metres from our tiny zodiac.

The institute works in collaboration with Roger Payne, one of the most respected scholars of whales.
"Since 1970 we identified photographically by air and sea some 2,000 animals and do follow-up. Our catalog is the largest and the study is more continuity in the world. Each cetacean mind," explains Sironi.

Among the work of BCI, researchers evaluated the health status of the frank through the height of the roll of fat on his neck. He also estimated the age of juveniles across photogrammetry. His study is more detailed than exists on the behavior of juveniles and their social interactions.

Suddenly, an albino ballenato approaches the boat on the starboard side. Her mother censorship Apart from his daring us with the powerful tail. But the small ignored and resolves to dive out by port. His snout is almost pink, her skin is soft and his face is covered by the frank nature of the calluses, which also serve to identify him, according to Payne discovered. At aspire, retozón ballenato produces a noise similar to a large body.

"Now, thanks to the Programme right whale, led by Victoria Rowntree, we have accumulated information vital to science and we have also reached many people across our program of adoption of this species. In addition we are analysing the impact of diving on the behavior of these cetaceans, which is a new problem in power, "says Sironi.

Suddenly the bay full of whales jumping, applauding and water delivered to their games: his favorite sport is surfing, exposing the tail to the wind, how to sail.
When darkened accompanied us with three-dimensional sound of their breaths, augmented by the echo and a calm night without wind.

Points attraction in women and men

A recent investigation conducted in the United States with the help of microcámaras has unveiled parts of the body where most fixed their attention the opposite sex.

Thus, men tend to turn toward the area of the breasts, while women are set mainly in the structure corporea, where, ideally, a wide chest and a narrow waist. Apart from that, there is a fixed point where usually pay attention: the rear.

Cloning humans

Dr. Hwang and clone that never existed "could be the title of a work of fiction, but it is the true story of a new chapter of scientific fraud.

As is known, the world of science was shaken by the scandal: Hwang Woo Suk, a South Korean scientist and a team of 25 investigators signatories had announced during 2004 and 2005 in two articles published in Science magazine for the first time have cloned cells human. After a conclusive report of the investigation Commltee of the Seoul National Universlty, January 12, 2006. Donald Kennedy, director of Science, inserted into the electronic edition of the magazine in an unusual retraction stating that in the two-scientific papers were produced "no real results and that therefore there had been a fraud. The first human clone never existed!

Now, several months after that science itself make self-criticism about the case. Spain has adopted a Law Research Biomedici-na. so that we can say that the rule is brought forward to the progress of science, which is usually not normal. It is one of the positive consequences of the Hwang case.

But, like what happened has cast doubt on the process of scientific publishing, has also led to questioning the process of transmission of news through the media. The case of Dr. Hwang is a proof that scientific journalism se basa en un then overly uncritical of everything that is published in the "prestigious" scientific journals.

The sources used by journalists to learn about science are essentially scientific journals Nature and Science type. But as reflected in the wake of the case The New York Times a few months ago in an article "Now, editors are starting to look at the information that comes from scientific journals with more skepticism."

Roy Peter Clark, professor at the Poynter Institute in Florida, believes that reporting on scientific discoveries mean greater difficulty, since it often requires some prior knowledge of the journalist, followed up with interviews with experts and some indication of how to give meaning to highly technical material.

"It seems clear-Clark concludes that this scandal will generate the need to increase the capacity level of critical journalists and probably also new communication protocols between scientists and disseminators."

If so. both the momentum of a law to investigate in biomedicine as requiring a higher level of scientific journalism have been positive corollaries of a memorable fraud in the history of science.

The water huraño

Henry Cavendish was born in Nice in 1731. From eccentric character and confused, lived his entire life as an inmate: detestable company of other men and terrorized him by the women to such an extent that forbade their maids crossed with him.

Cavendish took his passion in science and experience, his obsession. His devotion was such that in his experiments on electricity measured the intensity of the flow by gravity of the suffering downloads: used himself as ammeter! Cavendish was the first to break down water into oxygen and hydrogen.

According to his personality, she did not mind at all the fame you could bring this forward and barely was concerned that other scientists knew about their investigations.
He lived by and for science in total solitude and even when his health was broken, as demanded death had lived, alone.
