Infertility in male soldiers

Veterans of the first Gulf War are showing signs of fertility problems, compared with colleagues in the armed forces not serving in that region, according to a study. The poll, conducted by the School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, showed a slight increase in cases of infertility and birth of children dead among veterans from 1990 to 1991 in Kuwait and Iraq, compared with the military who were not there.

"The difference is small, but significant from a statistical point of view." "What we have to do now is to conduct more studies, particularly among soldiers returning from Iraq." The survey found that 3.4 percent of veterans and their partners had not conceived or had children living after having tried for a year. For non-veterans of the Gulf War the figure was 2.3 percent.

Psychological causes of infertility

The psycho-social issue, which means "demands" a pregnancy, not only applies to couples without children, also when the firstborn is more than a year and a half or two years of life, many mothers are being pressured to "seek a brother. "

The psychological causes which lead her tardiness may be several:

Fear
In the "unconsciousness" of the first pregnancy may be an exaggeration to follow him fear for the second, especially not being able to give birth to a healthy baby.

Stress
Addressing the son of the house, work-and sometimes the husband, a woman require an emotional overload that could lead to disruption of ovulation. For his part, dad, economically demanded by the rise of the family, can also suffer deterioration in the quality of semen in the race for daily life.

Guilt
Some couples mistakenly believe that the second child will prevent them love equally to the first.
Just as there are psychological consequences arising from the studies and treatments for infertility, also, as we see, there are psychological factors that can lead to it.

Good medical practice requires providing a "therapeutic support" in the area since the beginning of psychological treatment for all sterility, even more so when there is already a child born without the drawbacks of normal delivery.

Male Infertility - Treatment

An infection, an illness or injury in the testicles can disrupt sperm production. It is also common infertility caused by an excess of work or excessive consumption of snuff and / or alcohol.

Detection.
Through an opposition permograma or semen analysis, which should be repeated at least twice, check the quantity and quality of sperm. The internal injuries were detected by palpation and ultrasound systems.

Treatment.
The technique is chosen, medical treatment, intrauterine insemination, in vitro fertilization or sperm-bank basically depend on the outcome of the expected mograma.
Most men who already have their offspring do not hesitate to reproductive capacity.

And yet, disorders that involve some form of infertility are shared by men and women on equal terms. 50 percent (or more) of the time, the problem is with women, and the other 50 percent is due to man. Therefore, you should not settle for a search for a single cause and not investigate the other.

Ovarian dysfunction

A relatively common cause of infertility in women is the hormonal disorders that affect the functioning of the ovaries. It may be that there is no ovulation, or that it is irregular. Detection. Ovulation disorders can be studied by serial transvaginal ultrasound monitoring, control of daily basal temperature, the use of reagents in urine tests (which can be purchased freely in pharmacies), made dosajes hormone (blood) in various stages of the cycle menstrual, endometrial biopsy performed shortly before menstruation or laparoscopy (method by which its complexity is not used routinely for this purpose).

Treatment.
If necessary, it stimulates ovulation using drugs. This technique, which requires great control serial-to-vaginal ultrasound scans, as there is risk of a multiple pregnancy, can only be done by experts.

Antibiotics for fertility

A recent study on human infertility identified a disorder common and easy to treat among men: the leucocitospermia. Inflammation, often caused by an infection, which causes white blood cells from entering the prostate, interfering with the ability of movement of sperm.

Dr. Emmett Branigan, a specialist in fertility, found that 53 percent of men who had problems of infertility, failed to fertilise his partner after respond positively to a treatment of antibiotics. If you're having trouble conception, Dr. Branigan recommends a test of semen that includes a check of white blood cells.

It also recommends that men who seek to initiate a family ejaculate frequently, preferably once a day to remove the prostate old sperm and other substances.

Anabolic steroids - Benefits and side effects

Its advantages
The anabolic steroids have been used successfully in the medical world to treat different types of injuries and illnesses, but all reports made so far indicate that the only benefits in healthy people are increasing muscle size and strength and physical endurance to train longer. But there is no evidence that any of these benefits can endure for long.

Disadvantages
(side effects)
Physical.
If the use of hormones does not cause side effects, would be allowed to use all the athletes. The rules that prohibit the use of male hormones are basically designated to protect the physical and mental health of athletes.

Excessive doses can cause, among other things, cancer, hepatitis, risk of heart attacks and direct damage to the same muscle as well as increased cholesterol levels in the blood, stimulate the production of cancer cells, causing the body stops production of testosterone, which in turn would cause severe effects on libido and sexual functions.

Some of the most notorious are the increase in body and facial hair, increased sebaceous secretions (oily skin), acne and priapism (persistent and painful erections). The frequent users also may experience cramps and spasms associated with rapid changes in their muscle mass.

Ordinarily, when used oral steroids, can suffer from gastrointestinal problems, including loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and bowel irritation. When steroids are introduced into the body, a portion of the male hormone becomes the female hormone (estrogen), it can get to develop the bust in men.

Since the beginning of their use, can have headaches, bleeding from the nose, fatigue, weakness and fainting. In youngest users can cause cessation of bone development, which affects their growth, and further intensify even more the appearance of acne.

As if all this were not enough, a recent report indicates that excessive testosterone can cause the growth of prostate and block the flow of urine. It has also been seen in both men and women cause temporary infertility.

Psychological. Steroids, on the other hand, largely affecting the central nervous system and, indeed, psychological symptoms can be even more palpable that the biological at 70 per cent of cases are the first to appear.

Many consumers say they feel very well during the period using steroids, but studies say the opposite has been found that those who have used changing moods, showing aggression, violence, depression (especially when there is a dependency steroids), paranoia, extreme irritability without apparent cause, disappointment and sense of invincibility.

Steroids also increase the level of cortisol, a hormone the body, which is largely the cause of stress. This can cause neurological problems and hypertension. A study conducted by Harvard University, concluded that one eighth of the users of anabolic steroids suffered from the so-called "body-of Psychosis," which includes symptoms of hallucinations and paranoia.

The anabolic steroids as all types of drugs, have advantages and disadvantages; unfortunately, the latter are higher. At first, steroids were classified as miracle drugs.

A large number of athletes took their use to view their surprising results, why is that they have been awarded their jobs. However, increasingly people are within their influence, making the drug not only covering the sports world, but also in many developed countries is a fashion in gyms and even in schools and universities.

The psychological and medical communities around the world continue to study how beneficial and harmful are, and are increasingly being uncovered negative effects that positive.

Babies probeta

28 years ago who was born the famous Louise Brown, metaphorically called the first "test tube girl" in the history of mankind.
Today it is estimated that there are already more than three million children in the world born through assisted reproduction techniques, as announced at the annual conference of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology held in Prague.

From the first practice of in vitro fertilization 1978, development has led a formidable scientific advancement and improvement in the way that people can be designed.

These techniques which, as everyone knows, are complicated and a relative effectiveness depending on the case, have allowed many families who could not produce offspring have been able to see fulfilled their aspirations to be fathers and mothers.

After tuning pioneer in artificial fertilization of an ovum by a sperm to treat female infertility, in the nineties was an important new step with the microinjection of sperm in the oocytes, which provides the possibility of alleviating male sterility.

All these developments have also allowed to know much better the causes of infertility, a problem that now concerns, according to recent studies, one of every six couples.

Today we know that, the well-known physiological reasons, we must also consider factors linked to human behavior, such as smoking, overweight and stress, among others.

These three billion human beings who literally owe the existence of scientific research and its technological applications allow us to reflect on attitudes with which the company provides and assimilates the advancement of scientific knowledge.

Just go to hemerotecas and see what they said and how they are valued in some cases in 1978 birth of Louise Brown or what was said a few years earlier when Christiaan Barnard in 1967 won the first heart transplant.
So it is good that our relativicemos inevitable tendency to allude to the myth of Frankenstein, even today that open new avenues for intervention on our own evolution.

There is no doubt that we have to give the necessary ethical filters and a strong ability to criticize the possibilities that we are giving ourselves, but always think in those three million people that would not exist if we had not taken the step of accepting , With conditions, which gives us the scientific knowledge.

If not they ask the parents of those three billion human beings who know what life is like. Or easier yet: themselves!

Infertility - Sterility

We call this way to the impossibility of conceiving or to the failure of the generative feature. They are considered sterile 10% of the couples, and it cannot be accepted that sterility exists until a couple takes two years of sexual normal relationships. The very generalized belief that the lawsuit of the sterility is always of feminine origin, it is a great error that currently cannot be accepted. The man is also responsible for the sterility in 40% of the cases, in spite of conserving the sexual seemingly normal features. The sterility should be treated in common, owing the couple to go to a responsible gynecologist.

It is important to scan detailedly with the gynecologist, the habits of sexual activity. Some couples don't make coitus with the enough frequency so that a gestation happens times for religious reasons, there is who distance the sexual such relationships that don't take place in the moments of more fecundity. If the woman's cycles are short, and their relatively long menstrual periods, the ovulation can correspond to the period of abstinence. Or to the inverse one, the frequency of coitus can diminish or to overwork the capacity of production of the male's spermatozoa partially, reason why some days of rest they will improve the content of the ejaculation of this. Also, the position adopted during a coitus or after him, it can influence in the possibilities of the approach.

Among the lawsuits of sterility we can find: in the man, firstly the dysfunctions of the spermatozoa. When complete absence of them exists it is said that there is azoospermia; and when there is a decrease it is named oligoespermia. A normal man has in each ejaculation from 60 to 120 million spermatozoa for cubic centimetre. When there are less than 40 millions for cubic centimetre an oligoespermia it exists and it is difficult the fecundation. The ullage of spermatozoa can be due to an obturation, for lack of development of the channels male genital, or to adherences caused by tuberculous infections or old gonocócicas. Their decrease can also be due to hormonal dysfunctions. Another masculine dysfunction is the impotence, more or less hidden, and that it can obey organic lawsuits, when an illness of the penis exists, or to psychic lawsuits, among those that it can figure the repulsion more or less larvada toward the couple.

Another class of dysfunctions, they are the combined ones, that is to say that embrace the man and the woman. They are for example the barriers to the climb of the spermatozoa in a half vaginal one hostile, for abnormal mucus, acidity excess, inflammations of the neck of the uterus named cervicitis, among other.

In the woman, the same as in the man with the spermatozoa, they can exist the dysfunctions of the ovulation in the first place, with ovulation ullage or with ova of diminished vitality. The existence and accuracy of the ovulation can be determined by means of the basal temperature. The dysfunctions that produce an obstruction of the trumpets come later and they impede the step of the ovum from the ovary to the uterus; concretely it is this one of the most frequent lawsuits in feminine sterility and it is the result of a tuberculosis, gonococia or inflammations that have cured with adherences. They can also hinder more or less the coitus the vulva closed and the vaginismo that consists on a vagina spasm, sometimes very difficult of expiring. Likewise among the feminine lawsuits they should make an appointment the hormonal ones. Naturally, as much in the man as in the woman, the dysfunctions of the development are reasons of sterility.

The treatment of a sterility is complex, patient and I release. It should be continued and to be scanned each one of the parts of the genital apparatus of both spouses.
